Sprain/ Strain often times arise due to repititive use or injuries sustained to the ligaments or muscles. Although these words have been used interchangeably there is a key difference. While the injuries affect the joints and symptoms tend to be similar, each injury affect different areas. However the true differentation between both is that strain results in a bruise, while a strain tends to elicit muscle spasms.

WHO GETS AFFECTED AND WHY


Everyone, however there are factors that place the joints in vulnerable positions such as:


  • Participating in strenous activities for prolonged periods
  • Pushing or pulling heavy items
  • Falls
  • Auto Accidents
  • Running
  • Jogging

Neck,mid back,lower back,elbow,shoulder,wrist, knees and ankles.

THINGS TO BE DONE


Always minimize exposure to a Sprain/Sprain by using proper form when
• Lifting , or pulling.
• Being sure of your surroundings to avoid slip and falls.
• Stretching ,warming up before exercises.
• Soliciting help when moving heavy objects
