HEADACHES


Headache can stem from simple stimulants such as an individual having a stressful day to a more severe neurological condition. Either way the complaint can be distracting and debilitating impacting ones ability to concentrate, work, make provisions for the family, and carryout routine ADLs. Headaches are typically intermittent or constant, and may be affected by sound, light, foods ( eg. chocolate, peppermint, alcohol, cheese), and can range from mild, moderate to severe in intensity, with a frequency of intermittent or constant.

THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HEADACHES WITH VARIOUS SYMPTOMS.



  • Tension Headaches - Associated with Stress
  • Migraines - Throbbing /pounding pain, sensivity to light, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, blurry vision
  • Cluster Headaches - one to three times daily, throbbing, consistent , intense burning/piercing pain around the eye, drooping of the eye lids
  • Aneurysmal Headaches - Worst Headache Ever. Please note that this headache is an Emergent situation.

WHEN SHOULD YOU HAVE IMAGING DONE FOR HEADACHES


You have a sudden feeling as if your head is about to explode. This feels like the WORST HEADACHE EVER!
• You experience excruciating headaches after physical activities.
• You have headaches with other serious symptoms, such as a change in speech or alertness, nausea,vomiting,a seizure or fit, blurry vision, or a loss of control.
